Our Team
Hernán Carvente-Martinez is the Founder & CEO of Healing Ninjas, Inc. a social enterprise seeking to expand access to health and wellness resources for communities of color and end mental health stigma. He is a Chicano social entrepreneur, community organizer, and leader in the fight to end youth incarceration. Currently, he is also the National Youth Partnership Strategist at the Youth First Initiative, a national campaign focused on closing youth prisons and reinvesting that money into community alternatives. He is a member of the Council of Criminal Justice, serves on the board of Community Connection for Youth, and is a member of several philanthropic funds that support the leadership of directly impacted communities. Previously, he worked as a Program Analyst at the Vera Institute of Justice, where he worked to ensure that youth and families were included in statewide policy reform efforts around the country. He was awarded the “Spirit of Youth Award” by the Coalition for Juvenile Justice and the “Next Generation Champion for Change” award by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Iliana is a brilliant, talented, aspiring entrepreneur. She joined the team with interest in supporting content creation and ensuring that the company follows through on its commitments by supporting coordination and strategy development at Healing Ninjas. Currently, Iliana lives in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. Before moving to Santiago, Iliana lived in New York City where she studied Forensic Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Soon after graduation, Iliana moved to Santiago where she did work at an orphanage and witnessed firsthand the impact of trauma. She believes in the importance of adults who were not removed from these situations to embark on the healing journey. Iliana carries a passion for helping young people and is interested in pursuing a master’s in clinical and health psychology.

Jaileen is in charge of creating content and managing the digital presence of the company across all social platforms. Jaleen is a graphic designer currently studying Audiovisual Communications & Cinematographic Arts. She loves art! Through design, drawing, and music she has been able to connect with herself.
